Would she be a disabled girl, or an actual character? Thankfully, the film treats her like Annie Sullivan does: not as an object of pity, or as an empty-headed problem, but as a person. My biggest worry going into this film was in how it would portray Helen. Excuse meee bitch, I will not be picking up my napkin, thank you very much! Helen Keller is perfectly content to run her entire household, until meddling Annie Sullivan shows up to “educate her”.
